A few friends, some from the West Coast Symphony Orchestra, others from Chor Leoni Men’s Choir, got together in the fall of 2007 for the express purpose of playing Baroque Music, which seemed to come up Concert June 2008a bit short (if it wasn’t ignored outright) in everyday music life. Things ‘fell into place’ very quickly and easily after that,so that the first concert happened on Dec. 30, 2007, with soloist Siri Olesen from musica intima.

Concerts followed at a relaxed pace with some wonderful highlights (Bach’s Orchestral Suite No. 3, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater) along the way. A fair amount of time was devoted to the German Composers (Bach, Telemann, Handel, Schütz).

We decide on a piece of music first, and then recruit the musicians we need. That’s how the last concert came to feature Czech, German, and French Christmas music for voices and instruments, as well as a New Year’s Cantata by Bach.

Many of the players have been, and are music teachers.

During 2009 we will concentrate some more on Bach: thinking of a harpsichord concerto, or one or more of the violin concerti.

We are always looking for enthusiastic members paticularly for the violin section. People Interested in playing with the orchestra should send an email to petrohl "at" telus.net.
