Stopping for a moment to breathe deeply and reflect is such an incredible gift to oneself. On March 4th, Vivaldi Chamber Choir will set the tone for reflection with music by Pergolesi, Bruckner, Cherubini, Mozart and Haydn. Accompanied by the lush strings of Harmonia Ensemble, we will explore settings of sacred texts, culminating in Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ (sung in English).
Whether you are making space for self care or looking for a rich Lenten experience, Vivaldi Chamber Choir’s The Seven Last Words of Christ is the perfect choice.
Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, Bruckner’s Christus natus est and excerpts from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater Doloroso and Cherubini’s Requiem in C minor will set the tone for this contemplative journey.
Honouring the sacred texts around which Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Christ was created, and pairing the performance with gorgeous visual projections makes this performance a “stand out” experience. After the instrumental introduction, the biblical text of each movement will narrated. Solo quartet will then “intone” the key words, after which the movement will be sung. Closing with a poignant poem by Malcolm Guite, this concert will be unforgettable.
