Festival Te Deum

A Digital Premiere Dedicated to Healthcare Workers
May 7 – May 24, 2021

Sir Arthur Sullivan’s Festival Te Deum

In 2017 Vivaldi Chamber Choir performed the Canadian Premiere of Sir Arthur Sullivan’s glorious Festival Te Deum, featuring a guest soprano soloist and full orchestra.  Known mainly for his collaborations with Gilbert in the comic Savoy operas, Sullivan was also a highly regarded composer of serious music.  He wrote the magnificent Festival Te Deum in celebration of the recovery from typhoid fever of the Prince of Wales in 1872, in the same era when Florence Nightingale, the founder of professional nursing, was doing her pioneering work.

In this remastering of the audio recording, beautiful visuals connect the music with past and present. Through the sheer majesty of the music, we commemorate the resilience and dedication of doctors, nurses and all *Healthcare Workers, blending the Victorian era with our 21st century experience.
